Since its inception in 1912, Yanmar\u2019s core business has been the production of engines.
In the 1930s Yanmar switched to the production of diesel engines, and has been
dominant in the small diesel engine market ever since. Yanmar also began building
diesel-powered tractors in the late 1930s and today remains one of the world\u2019s largest
makers of compact diesel tractors. In 1967, Yanmar entered the construction
machinery business with the introduction of a Walk-Behind Dozer. There was a
growing need in Japan for reliable construction machines that could access restricted,
urban construction sites. Following the hugely successful introduction of the Walk\u0002Behind Dozer, Yanmar understood the need for even more versatile compact
construction machinery, and introduced the first mini-excavator in 1968.

These mini-excavators also proved extremely popular and, since then, Yanmar has
introduced a number of other \u201cfirsts\u201d to the mini-excavator market, including: The first
Swing-Boom Excavator, The first Rubber-Tracked Excavator, The first Zero Tail Swing
